Blame for Iran

Editor:

I cannot believe how former Governor Reagan [Ronald Reagan] is trying to put all the blame on President Carter for the hostage situation. His memory must be going. It was the Republicans who put and kept the shah in power. [Pres. Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953, though Democrats, too, including Carter, supported the Shah]

Our former President Nixon came right out and said we didn’t help the shah enough. [Richard Nixon] He went to the shah’s funeral to show his loyalty and friendship to him. So if anyone is responsible for the present situation in Iran, it is the Republicans.

Friedella E. Kipnes.

Randallstown.
