TO THE EDITOR OF THE SUN—Sir:
Several of your recent articles on the Iranian oil have been so loaded with bias in favor of the Iranians that it can only be regarded as a deliberate policy on your part.
If you must quote figures of profits and taxes, etc., why not do a little genuine research and give the true picture of the amount of capital that has been sunk in that vast undertaking in what was, and still is, one of the
worst places in the world for a white man to live in? Give the figures of lives lost from disease and illness suffered by the pioneers of this fine project, who, in the early days, had no comforts in the terrible climate of this area.
Try and give your readers some idea of the climate at Abadan by quoting temperatures and humidity. Let them hear of the benefts to Iran from the development of their resources by a courageous undertaking. And finally, state how much better off you consider the
average Iranian will be if the Iranian Government does break its written agreements and steals the capital of the company.
Just be fair—that is all I ask. Having lived in the Persian Gulf area for some years, I can judge.
CAPT. W. J. STACY.
