A political upheaval in Iran has forced Mohammed Mossadegh out as that country’s premier. He has been replaced by Ahmad Ghavam, generally regarded as friendly to the West.

The West will breathe more easily with the neurotic and belligerent Mossadegh out of the picture. He constituted a one-man powder keg in the East. His quarrels with the West, especially with Britain, over confiscation of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Co. properties, kept the entire Middle East in a state of alarm.

With him out of the way, the chances of an eruption in the Middle East — something which the Communists ardently desire — may be considerably lessened.
