India changes her mind — and is pulling the old British lion’s tail. The oil from Iran is almost a must for Britain. The industry is the world’s fourth largest and is worth more than $5,000,000, 51 per cent of which is owned by the British Government. [more like a billion] But Britain apparently has fallen in bad graces with the Iranians, and the Senate on May 1, ratified seizure of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Co.

The new premier of Iran is Mohammed Mossadegh. His National bloc wanted the properties transferred to government ownership and the Senate voted accordingly. [National Front]

Britian [sic] has protested to the Iranian government that the nationalization and cancellation of Britain’s oil concession violates inter-national law. What effect this will have remains to be seen.

India has also told the United Nations that she will ignore any economic boycott or naval blockade of Communist China.

What kind of members are there in the United Nations any way? Have they not heard the saying: “United we stand, divided we fall?”
